South Australian Sri Lankan Doctors Association (SASDA) along with Australia-Sri Lankan Association (ASLA), ASLA committee members and friends of ASLA recently made a donation to provide essential medicines, clothes and other essential food items for people affected by land slides and floods in Aranayake.
This cause was carried out by SLCP and recently a group of Paediatricians together with a few Senior Registrars and 4 nurses from Mawanella Hospital visited the areas badly affected by the land slides and floods in Aranayake. They also conducted three medical clinics in Dippitiya, Hathgampola and in Ambalakanda.
At present the affected and the displaced are very well looked after by the Government, non governmental organisations and by the public. The Grama Niladharies whom they have met at the camps were concerned about what will happen after another few days when the enthusiasm dies down. They will be revisiting the area to find out how best they could support them.
SASDA and ASLA donations were highly appreciated by SLCP during this unfortunate natural disaster.
